It was also an ideal networking opportunity for startups to seek funding, support, develop partnerships, and connect with experts and other companies within the innovation ecosystem. The event featured some outstanding keynote presentations, as well as an extensive marketplace for idea showcasing and networking. Around 200 people attended in total, including startup founders, investors and other ecosystem partners.
After opening comments from Innovation Center head Michael Gamber, highlights of the day included an inspiring and entertaining keynote from “the Pitch Doctor” Christoph Sollich, a speech from M-ventures principle Alexander Hoffman, and a talk from Pedro Ferreira on his experience and best practices from building the Rhein-Main Startups Ecosystem.
The event moderator Chris MM Gordon also did an amazing job and brought great energy into the room, generating a lot of interaction during Q&A sessions. And he was very impressed with the quality of the event himself, commenting, “It is phenomenal to see such quality and level of innovation displayed from incredible startups in the field of health, pharmaceuticals, logistics, AI and more. At IgniterPad we get to work with game changing startups, but rarely do we work with a company that celebrates 350 years at the forefront of game changing innovation.”
Intense conversations during networking sessions in the Marketplace between startups and the Accelerator Team while enjoying food and drinks continued until 9:30 pm. They would have gone on longer had the event team not needed to begin the clear up process!
In the end, the impact of the event is best expressed by the people that were there:
Federico Muffatto (Founder and CEO ofDigi.bio): “Mind-blowing speeches, and a very well-organized event! We really appreciate the openness of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany and the best part is, we found our ideal match at Marketplace!”
Alexander Hoffman (Principal New Business Fund of M-Ventures):“Promising startups with impressive pitches! I truly enjoyed the event and appreciate the platform that the organization team has built.”
Sebastian Harrach (CEO of HUB31): “An excellent event to talk to high-tech start-ups looking for partners to develop their products. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany really builds on the strengths of Darmstadt and the Rhein-Main region.”
The Accelerator program is gearing up for the next intake of startups that will be onboarded in 2019.
